NBA basketball team the Houston Rockets has partnered with NYDIG, a leading bitcoin solutions provider, to be the team’s official bitcoin services partner. The deal will provide the team with cryptocurrency-related opportunities and give NYDIG exclusive exposure in the team’s social, digital, and arena platforms. NYDIG Forms a Partnership with the Houston Rockets for Crypto Services
NYDIG (the bitcoin services firm) has struck a sponsorship deal to sponsor the Houston Rockets. This is the team that won the NBA title twice. NYDIG will be the official partner in bitcoin services and the bitcoin platform for the Houston Rockets. This will give the company exclusive access to several areas of the franchise including digital and social media.
NYDIG will be collaborating with the Houston Rockets to increase knowledge and awareness of the crypto world as well as the use of new investment tools. Gretchen Sheirr (President of Business Operations, Houston Rockets) stated the following:
To stay on top of technology, our organization relies on advances in technology. NYDIG is a partner that allows us to use the rise of Bitcoin for creative rewards and payment options for our associates and fans.
Naming Rights and NYDIG’s Recent Partnerships
With the deal, NYDIG will also get naming rights for the Toyota Center’s (home arena for the Houston Rockets) suite levels, to be called the “Bitcoin Suites by NYDIG,” and will receive advertising during Rockets games. The amount of the sponsorship (that was not disclosed by any of the parties) will be paid fully in bitcoin by NYDIG, with the funds held under NYDIG’s custody. Kelly Brewster (chief marketing officer for NYDIG) provided details:
This partnership will see the Rockets paid in Bitcoin. It is a sign of our enthusiasm about Houston and the Bitcoin innovations taking place there.
NYDIG has been on a roll with partnerships lately, having also partnered earlier this month with Landry’s — the dining, hospitality, and entertainment company — to power a bitcoin loyalty rewards program that will bring bitcoin rewards to certain users of the franchise. The company also acquired Bottlepay, a Lightning Network-based payments company, to include its Lightning Network infrastructure in NYDIG’s current full-stack offer.
