Over the past few years, crypto adoption around the world has increased. This is due in part to the 2021 bull rush that saw bitcoin prices reach $69,000. It also triggered an influx of institutional and retail investors into the market. According to data, more than 325 million people use crypto worldwide. The top ten countries are listed below.
America Takes the Lead
It is the country that saw one of most widespread adoptions of cryptocurrency. Triple A data shows there are 46 million cryptocurrency users in America. It is also where more than 80 percent of the crypto ATMs worldwide are located. In total, 13.74% Americans are crypto users.
India is second. Indians have become increasingly interested in cryptocurrency over the past few years. They have seen a rapid increase in their number, with more than 27.4million crypto users living within the region. But, only 2.5% of Indians are affected by this. Third place is Pakistan, which has more than 26.4 million crypto users and 11.5% of India’s total population.

Unsurprisingly, Nigeria is fourth. With double-digit inflation in recent years, the economic condition has become worse. Residents have turned to crypto to protect their wealth. It has 10.34% of its total population, with more than 22.3million users.
With more than 22 million crypto users, Vietnam is 5th. With 20.27% of its population, Vietnam is still 5th. It is ahead of China with 19.88million and Brazil with 16.65 millions. Russia, Indonesia, South Africa and Brazil round out the top 10 with 14.6, 12.23, and 7.7 millions, respectively.
Crypto spreads across the continents
Although the United States is the dominant country in terms of adopting, it quickly falls behind when one looks at the world from the standpoint of all continents. In this area, Asians have taken the lead.
According to data, Asia has 130 million users of crypto. Africans have 53 million crypto users, while Asia has 130 million. North America, with 51 million users total, is third. Europe is next with 43 million users, followed by South America (27 million). Oceania reached 1 million users.
Also, the demographics for holders tend to be more male-oriented. Overall, 63% are males and 37% are women. 72% are younger than 34 years old, which indicates that crypto is popular with the young. The majority (71%) have at least a Bachelor’s degree.
