Visa and Crypto.com offer soccer fans Iconic NFTs and the Chance to Make Their Own Tokens
Visa, the official payment technology partner of soccer’s governing body, FIFA, has announced the launch of a series of unique digital collectibles representing iconic goals from five legendary footballers. The Visa Masters of Movement NFTs are now available on Crypto.com, which is FIFA’s official crypto trading platform sponsor.
It comes before the 2022 World Cup in Doha, scheduled for Nov. 20-Dec. 18. This experience will live on at an interactive pitch in Doha during the FIFA Fan Festival. Fans will also have an opportunity to make digital art inspired their signature movements.
Andrea Fairchild (Senior Vice President, Head of Sponsorships at Visa) commented:
As FIFA World Cup 2022 approaches, we want to celebrate football, art and technology through the lens of what makes the FIFA World Cup so special — wildly impassioned fans, legendary athletes and for a few short weeks, the ability to bring the world together in a uniquely connected way.
Five works of art were created from goals by Jared Borgetti and Tim Cahill. They are inspired by Carli Lloyd and Michael Owen’s NFTs. Crypto.com users will have the opportunity to bid on Visa Masters of Movement NFTs through Nov.
“The FIFA World Cup is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world, and we are incredibly excited to give fans a new way to engage with this epic event,” added Steven Kalifowitz, Crypto.com’s chief marketing officer. The tokens that fans create and collect will be forever stored on the Blockchain, he said.
Tokens will be sent to each NFT’s highest bidder via Crypto.com. The tokens can also be stored in the wallet along with signed memorabilia. Visa said all the proceeds of the auction would be donated to Street Child United (a U.K-based charity dedicated to fighting stigmatization that street children face around the globe).
