Sunacrip (the Venezuelan cryptocurrency watchdog) has made several improvements to Petroapp’s wallet. This will allow Venezuelans to make use of the Petro (PTR), for more functions. It now offers an embedded cryptocurrency exchange, which allows users to trade petros for different currencies. There are also a variety of payment and gift options that can be used to boost adoption.
Petro Relaunch aims to offer more use cases
Sunacrip is Venezuela’s cryptocurrency regulator institution. It has made a number of improvements to Petroapp (its petro wallet app) that are intended to make the cryptocurrency more usable. Joselit Ramirez (head of Sunacrip) explained the changes and listed all new functions via social media.
Ramirez stated:
After recovering the market and balancing the PTR conversion rate rates, the PetroApp has been updated. This update provides new services that will enhance your use of our sovereign cryptocurrency asset.
Ramirez stated that Petroapp’s redesign will enable users to make payments for all national phone plans. The app will also allow users to pay in petros for the top three cable operators of the country.
Send Gift Cards, Payments and Exchanges
This update will make it simpler to buy petros from the app. You can also use the country’s fiat currency to obtain these crypto assets. The app also allows these assets to be traded for other supported crypto currencies, including bitcoin, Dash, litecoin and litecoin. It even offers the option of withdrawing the funds from the app.
Ramirez stated that Petroapp also includes a payment gateway. This allows users to make payments invoices from within the app. The head of Sunacrip stated that this turns “each mobile device into a point of sale and the PTR into a means of payment,” something that the Venezuelan government has pushed for since the launch of the cryptocurrency.
According to Ramirez, the launch of a market for gift cards, which was announced last week, appears to be in this direction. The market, according to Ramirez’s statements, will include the possibility of buying gift cards to pay for services like Netflix, which is hugely popular in the country, or making payments on platforms such as Apple Store and Amazon.
