FC Shakhtar Donetsk To Auction Digital Collectibles with Help from Binance

Binance NFT, the marketplace for non-fungible tokens of the world’s leading crypto exchange, announced Friday the launch of an NFT collection of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, one of Ukraine’s top professional soccer clubs. Next week, Shakhtar will be auctioning nine signed jerseys from its ‘Football for Peace’ initiative.

By organizing friendly matches and giving the proceeds of tickets, the primary goal is to help Ukrainian children affected in the conflict. Binance stated that the auction will commence on May 7th and last for one week.

“The highest bidders will each receive a limited edition FC Shakhtar Donetsk jersey with the ‘Football for Peace’ logo on it,” the trading platform added. All Shakhtar players, coaches and stars, such as Andriy Pyatov, Mikhail Mudryk and Taras Stepanenko will autograph the jerseys.

Additionally, 10 BUSD will allow you to purchase 10,000 NFT mystery boxes. These boxes will be also available for purchase on Saturday at the Binance NFT Marketplace. The Shakhtar Social Fund will receive proceeds from the auction, as well as the Mystery Boxes sale. This money will go to Ukrainians who are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

“We are dedicated to helping the Ukrainian community rise back stronger from this crisis. Blockchain is ideal for this given the transparency and accountability that it provides,” commented Sergei Palkin, CEO of FC Shakhtar Donetsk. “Throughout the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, digital assets, including NFTs, have played an important role in providing fast, efficient, and simple help to those in need,” added Helen Hai, head of Binance NFT.

Ukraine began to rely on cryptocurrency donations after Russia’s military attack in February. It has raised over a million dollars in digital currency in order to pay for its defense as well as solve its humanitarian issues. These efforts have been supported by members of the cryptocommunity and nations that pledge support.

Shakhtar originally was based in Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine, which is now controlled by pro-Russian separatists. Due to the conflict in Donbas, the football club had to relocate its headquarters to Kyiv. Shakhtar played home matches in Lviv and Kharkiv since 2014.
