Recently, the Tezos Foundation announced that it had committed $1.23 Million to a fund to help collect NFTs created by African and Asian artist. Photographer Misan Harriman has been selected as the curator of the foundation’s permanent art collection.

A New Generation of Artists Needed Support

The Swiss non-profit organization, Tezos Foundation, recently said it has committed about $1.23 million (£1 million) to a fund, which will be used to collect non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of upcoming artists from Africa and Asia. The artists’ works will be curated by Misan Harriman, a renowned photographer and one of the pioneers in the making and collection of NFTs.

As per The Art newspaper report, Harriman — the chair of London’s complex of artistic venues, Southbank Center — will also focus on acquiring the works of artists from regions with less representation in the NFT community.

Commenting on his role as the curator of Tezos Foundation’s so-called permanent art collection, Harriman said:

As curator for this collection’s first edition, I am determined to ensure the world is aware of the many voices making extraordinary art.[s]With art. Tezos Foundation Permanent Collection is going to support and honor a new group of artists who chose a contract-enabled path that allows them to express themselves fully.

Art World Breakthroughs

Although critics of NFTs voice concerns about the volatility of cryptocurrency, supporters of the blockchain technology behind NFTs insist that they will remove long-standing obstacles in the art industry. Tezos Foundation is an affiliate of Tezos Blockchain. Despite the fact that there are still hurdles, they can’t stop NFTs from growing in popularity.

Arthur Breitman (co-founder, early architect, of Tezos) spoke about how Tezos raises awareness of Web3 artists in a newly released statement. He added: “This project, in collaboration with Misan Harriman’s talent and expertise, allows us to create a bespoke destination with the sole purpose of elevating digital artists who turn to Tezos for a sustainable way of sharing their work with the world.”
