Square Enix to Bring Dungeon Siege IP to The Sandbox – Metaverse Bitcoin News

Square Enix, a Japanese gaming publishing and development company has signed a deal with The Sandbox that will allow an IP of the company to appear on the platform’s metaverse. The company will bring elements of Dungeon Siege — one of its oldest intellectual properties — to The Sandbox, allowing players to include these elements in their own custom-made experiences.

Square Enix Partners in The Sandbox

Square Enix is a gaming company that has been around for a while. It announced its partnership with The Sandbox metaverse-based platform, to bring one of its IPs into the virtual world. Dungeon Siege is the IP being introduced by The Sandbox. This RPG-based experience has been downloaded more than 1.7 millions times and produced a number of sequels.

This collaboration will include the integration of Dungeon Siege in the metaverse in two ways. Square Enix plans to establish an interactive section of the platform for players that includes Dungeon Siege components. This will allow them to have fun and also to recognize ways they can combine these elements in their own stories.

This integration includes voxel elements from the Dungeon Siege universe. Users can create their own experiences by using native Voxedit or Game Maker utilities. This will allow users to easily create micro-worlds from scratch without needing any programming skills.

Hideaki Ehara, Square Enix director of business, said:

Dungeon Siege is all about adventure. Entering The Sandbox metaverse, which allows players to create their own adventures, opens up a new chapter in the franchise’s history.

Uehara stated that the company is excited to bring the franchise to life in The Sandbox powered by its fans’ imagination.

The Metaverse: Dipping toes

Square Enix’s first venture into metaverse is this. The company already stated that it is considering a strong entry to blockchain and P2E experiences with NFT elements.

In fact, the president of the company, Yosuke Matsuda, explained in a new year’s letter that the company will invest aggressively in areas including blockchain gaming and that self-sustaining token economies could fuel game growth.

The Sandbox is not the only gaming company that has partnered with The Sandbox. Ubisoft is a good example of this, having included the intellectual property of its Rabbids in the platform’s February launch.
