PUBG Developer Krafton Partners With Solana Labs to Build Blockchain Games and Services – Bitcoin News

Krafton, the developer of the blockbuster game PUBG, announced a partnership agreement with Solana Labs to develop its blockchain-based gaming platform. New business plans of the company include the creation token economies that will power play-to earn (P2E), experiences and build their own Web3 offerings.

Krafton chooses Solana for its Web3 Games

Krafton is one of the largest Korean game developers has moved on to the next stage in its recently completed pivot towards blockchain gaming. The makers of the multiplayer game PUBG, have announced a new partnership to support its customized Web3 experiences.

The deal between Krafton and Solana Labs involves a “long-term cooperative relationship for the development and operation of blockchain- and NFT-based games and services.” This means that the two companies have agreed to cooperate in the establishment of joint business opportunities and investments, and also in the development of the mentioned blockchain-based games.

Solana was chosen because of its speed and its low fees. HyungchulPark, the leader of Web3 Roundtable Krafton said:

Solana, a top global high-performance cryptocurrency with strong speed and low costs, is a great example of Web 3.0’s best technologies and ecosystem. Krafton can use this collaboration to gain the information it needs in order to invest more and produce blockchain-based experience.

As more businesses integrate blockchain technology into their business models, this move could push some other developers who are interested in developing blockchain games to choose Solana. Johnny Lee from Solana Labs is the head of Games Business Development.

On-chain gaming is becoming more popular. Companies that can respond promptly to gamers’ requests will have a better chance of continuing their success.


Gaming Companies Going Blockchain

Krafton’s movement is part of its recent pivot to blockchain games, NFTs, and Web3. In February, Krafton acquired shares in Seoul Auction Blue (2.5 million USD) and Xbyblue (4.1 million USD). Krafton also developed a joint metaverse platform in partnership with Naver Z. This company has extensive experience building 3D worlds with AI.

Others gaming companies, such as Square Enix and Ubisoft are also looking to incorporate blockchain-based and metaverse-based components into their games.
