Netskope Discovers Hackers Are Using Google Sites and Microsoft Azure to Steal Crypto – Security Bitcoin News

Some SEO strategies are being used by hackers to redirect users to phishing websites for Metamask wallet applications and Kraken exchanges like Coinbase or Kraken. According to Netskope, these sites are created on Google Sites or Microsoft Azure and trick users into entering their personal data, which allows malicious entities to steal their funds.

Netskope claims that a cryptocurrency phishing scheme uses SEO, Google Sites, Microsoft Azure.

Netskope an online security firm has detected a new cryptocurrency phishing scam that utilizes SEO techniques as well as copycat pages. A report by the company states that it is being discovered that cybercriminals are using blogs to share links to phishing web sites throughout 2022.

These blogs are filled with links that contain SEO content. This allows the attackers to be found in high search engine results. These links can be monitored by many users, who may believe they are linking to genuine crypto websites. But, these links direct users to phishing pages that appear very similar to Crypto-based sites such as Metamask.

Some other sites mimic the exchanges Coinbase, Gemini and Kraken.

Phishing Mechanism

The phishing websites, hosted on Google Sites and Microsoft Azure, can trick users into giving out their personal data in two ways. First, it allows users to directly access their private wallet seeds by asking for them to export this data. The Metamask site currently uses this method.

The second one has to do with obtaining the info of the users’ accounts in any of the exchanges being phished. Users are prompted to call a support operator to find out more about them after they have submitted their data.

Netskope declared:

Netskope highly recommends that you never click on any link to enter credentials. Do not click on a link to enter credentials. Instead, navigate straight to the site where you wish to log in. A secure web gateway is recommended for organizations that can detect and block phishing attacks in real time.

The cryptocurrency industry is not immune to phishing schemes. Binance warned of a huge phishing scheme involving SMSs in February.
