Meta has launched interactive 3D ads on Facebook and Instagram, inspired by its metaverse pivot that it began to implement since the name change. This is possible due to a new integration in Meta’s AR (Augmented Reality) publishing library with a development from a company called Vntana.
Vntana Integrates 3D Ads in Meta’s Apps
Meta-owned publishers will be able now to use 3D models for their ads on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Publishers will now be able to use metaverse-inspired ads on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Users can interact with these objects. Vntana is a service provider that allows other companies to include 3D assets on their social media feeds.
According to a press release issued by the company, Vntana has exclusive access to Meta’s AR API to integrate their services to be able to achieve this goal. “Just like regular ads, 3D ads appear in users’ Facebook and Instagram feeds displaying interactive 3D models that users can tap and interact with – moving the product around to view all angles,” the release details.
Metaverse Monetization
The innovation could be part of one the first monetization plans that includes metaverse-like components in Meta-owned platform. Ashley Crowder (co-founder, CEO, Vntana) stated that this is an example of how Vntana works.
3D and AR technology used in online advertisements is the next frontier to help brands connect with digital consumers. It is also a fantastic first step towards the metaverse.
Additionally, she stated that the release could bring about democratization of these ad spaces. This is because more companies are now able to bring their products directly to customers. Customers will be able to see the 3D models of these products from a metaverse-like perspective.
Chris Barbour, director of Augmented Reality Business Development & Partnerships at Meta, declared:
3D and AR are incredibly powerful advertising tools for retail and online brands. They can also improve customer experiences right from point of sale.
Meta’s flagship AR app, Horizon Worlds, which offers a set of metaverse experiences for users, is currently not being monetized by the company. Meta might use this technology to enable them to place ads and monetize these spaces from various brands.
