D.C. United, Major League Soccer’s (MLS), has announced a 3-year sponsorship agreement with blockchain developer XDC Network. D.C. United supporters now have unprecedented access to the sport’s most prestigious league (MLS) for the first time ever. XDC Network, which will now be on both the away and home kits of the 2022 MLS seasons, will also appear on training tops.

On the front of D.C. United’s shirts, XDC will take the position of Leidos, a national security, health, and engineering solutions corporation. Commenced in 2014, Leidos’ first contract with the team lasted until the 2021 season. The XDC tie-up’s worth has not been revealed yet. In contrast, a 2018 revelation in The Athletic estimated that D.C. United’s contract with Leidos was worth US$3 million per year at the time.
XDC was also called the Official NFT and blockchain marketplace partnerThe arrangement includes fan tokens. D.C. United members will be rewarded with tokens for their dedication through XDC. The tokens can be traded for special experiences and privileges. A non-fungible token (NFT) can be purchased, sold, traded or interacted through XDC. This will allow people to learn more about the blockchain technology.
