Line Corporation in Japan has made it clear that they will be launching a market for NFT tokens on April 13. Line detailed on Wednesday that the market will be called “LINE NFT” and it will showcase “more than 100 types of NFTs.”
Japan’s Line Corporation to Launch LINE NFT Marketplace
Line Corporation merged with Softbank Group and Yahoo Japan in March 2021. It aims at encompassing the digital world in all its aspects. Reports last week revealed that Z Holdings would launch a global NFT market, which will serve 180 countries. Line was launched 13 days later. announced the company is also launching an NFT marketplace called “LINE NFT.” Line’s press release notes that the market will showcase more than 100 types of NFTs.
LINE NFT will go live on April 13. LINE app customers will have access to the market via the app. Square Enix, Yoshimoto Kogyo and Nissy will all be participating in the LINE NFT launch. Moreover, the launch will see a Yoshimoto Kogyo Holdings limited edition NFT video dubbed: “Yoshimoto NFT Theater.” While LINE NFT will only operate in Japan, reports say that Z Holdings’ NFT marketplace called “DOSI” will launch worldwide on April 19.
Line NFTs are stored in the LINE BITMAX Wallet
Line’s entry into the blockchain space is nothing new as the company launched “LINE Blockchain Lab” in 2018. A number of Japanese companies and brands have also been making moves into the NFT space, such as Square Enix, Konami Holdings Corporation, and Konami Entertainment Corporation. This year, the Japanese online retail giant Rakuten plans to launch an NFT marketplace, and the firm also said Rakuten’s peer-to-peer NFT service will be ready in 2023.
Recent weeks have seen a decline in interest in the non-fungible token tech (NFT). Sales saw another dip mid-February. Last week, NFT sales increased by 17% compared to the previous week. 7-day statistics show that NFT sales have increased 50.71% in the past week, with $586.510,454 of NFTs sold. While LINE app users will leverage the NFT marketplace, NFTs themselves will be stored via the company’s LINE BITMAX wallet.
