Interview with CNBC published on Thursday by Eric Schmidt (former Google CEO) about cryptocurrency investing.
From 2001 through 2011, Schmidt was Google’s CEO. Schmidt was the CEO of Google from 2001 to 2011. According to Bloomberg Billionaire Index, his net worth currently stands at $22.8 billion.
Regarding his own crypto investment, he revealed that he has invested “a little bit” of money into cryptocurrency, without naming any coins specifically. He further clarified that he’s just getting started investing in crypto.
He explained to the crowd that Web3 was for him the most exciting part of blockchain. He stated:
A new model where you as an individual control your identity, and where you don’t have a centralized manager, is very powerful. It’s very seductive and it’s very decentralized.
“I remember that feeling when I was 25 that decentralized would be everything,” he added.
Former Google executive said that if he was starting as a software engineer today, he would like to focus on AI algorithms and Web3.
Schmidt clarified that his interest in Web3 involves “tokenomics,” which concerns the specific supply and demand characteristics of cryptocurrencies.
The former Google CEO pointed out that Web3 might offer new content ownership models and ways to compensate people.
″[Web3′s]Economics is interesting. Both the platforms are intriguing and the patterns of use are very interesting.
However, he pointed out that it “doesn’t work yet, but it will.”
