Famed Whistleblower Edward Snowden Reveals He Took Part in the Zcash Launch Ceremony – Altcoins Bitcoin News

Edward Snowden is a well-known whistleblower who was also a former computer intelligence consultant and exposed Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance. He has now revealed that he participated in Zcash’s creation ceremony. Snowden says that during the creation ceremony he “participated” and leveraged the “pseudonym John Dobbertin.”

Snowden Played the Role of ‘John Dobbertin’ During the Zcash Launch

Zcash Media recently published a video that explains Edward Snowden was among the six who helped to launch Zcash. It was posted on Oct 23, 2016. The video reveals that six people didn’t know the identities of the others who held the Zcash keys. They used pseudonyms in order to hide their identity.

The fact that Peter Todd was involved in the ceremony was already known long before this video was released. Todd actually wrote a comprehensive summary of the Zcash ceremony called the “Cypherpunk Desert Bus,” which explains what happened from his perspective.

Todd posted an update to his blog and crossed out the text below. “Taking this down for now until some questions about the deterministic builds are answered; currently I do not believe the Zcash trusted setup should be called a multi-party computation, making my involvement pointless,” Todd wrote.

Zcash Media published a video in which Snowden explains that he also participated in this ceremony. “My name is Edward Snowden,” the famous American whistleblower says. “I participated in the Zcash original ceremony under the pseudonym John Dobbertin.” Snowden also discussed the issues with Bitcoin’s privacy in the video and stressed that a free currency is also private as well. Snowden remarked:

This is the problem with [bitcoin] is you can’t have truly free trade unless you have private trade. I’m just really happy to see that the Zcash project is moving us closer and closer towards that ideal of a free currency which is also a private currency.

Peter Todd, Software Developer

Todd clarified that Snowden was in the video after it had been published. “So turns out Snowden was one of the six participants in the Zcash trusted setup that I also participated in,” Todd tweeted. “Which I criticized heavily for being busted, followed by Zcash people falsely accusing me of sexual assault in retaliation.”

Snowden was criticized by others for selling Zcash, even though he is an original inventor. “Wow. “Wow. Really puts this in context,” the individual wrote.
