Reports indicate that the Government of Dubai intends to place a portion of its offices in the metaverse. According to Sharad Agarwal who is Cybergear’s chief metaverse officer, the country is seeking help from third parties in order to transition some of its departments to virtual reality.
Dubai Reports that it is transferring government functions to the Metaverse
Dubai, an emirate of the United Arab Emirates, is believed to be taking certain departments of its government into the metaverse to enable users to take actions in these facilities in future. The country has already presented the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, in which it positioned this technology as important to the future.
Sharad Agarwal was the chief metaverse officer for Cybergear (a Dubai-based metaverse firm) and spoke at a local event about his process. He explained:
Our Metaverse-enablement team has been receiving a lot more inquiries from ministries and departments of government. We are only a few steps away from Dubai becoming the global crypto- and Metaverse center.
It will be a long process to build these areas, and establish their functions. “There is hard work involved, so you need to decide what services you want to offer and business model and then onboard community just like it exists in the physical world,” Agarwal further explained.
Countries Betting on Metaverse & Applications
Dubai was one of those countries which has established a worldwide plan to ensure that the metaverse is a lucrative industry. A group of directives called the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to have the metaverse add 1% to the country’s GDP for 2030, has the potential to create 42,000 jobs in virtual reality by the same year. South Korea, for example, is also heavily investing in their own metaverse industry. They have allocated $177 millions to this effort.
Agarwal spoke out about one application that metaverse technology can make in the future, and it is the real estate market. He declared:
Dubai is a major real estate market. People will soon be able fly superman to reach a community to view villas, and then configure their interior decor to suit their needs. Once they’re satisfied, they can pay digitally.
Virtual asset regulator in country has recently set up operations in metaverse. This is a pioneering space in this area.
