In the last 198 Days, nearly 250 Casascius virtual bitcoins had been exchanged. Six months ago there were only 19,920 Casascius bitcoins remaining active. Today, approximately 19,676 are still available.

In the past six months 244 Casascius bitcoins have been redeemed to their digital value. Mike Caldwell created the Casascius collection of physical Bitcoins. It is one among the most sought-after. Casasciustracker.com statistics show that rare coins often sell for higher than their digital face value. Today, there are 19676 active or unredeemed physical coins.

Every physical bitcoin is worth a fraction of the digital BTC. Some coins have.5 BTC while others only hold one BTC. Caldwell created gold bars with bitcoins loaded on them, like the famous 100 BTC Gold Bar. Casascius bitcoins can hold between 25 and 1,000 BTC. For instance, on March 30, 2022, an “S1-COIN-25” that’s worth 25 BTC was peeled and redeemed for the digital value of $1.14 million.

S1-COIN-25 held 25 Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and 25 Bitcoinsv (BSV), however, those crypto assets were not used by Casascius’s actual bitcoin owner. Five days prior, an “S2-COIN-5” was peeled and redeemed for 5 BTC or $230K. Casascius owner of physical Bitcoin also kept the 5 BCH (and 5 BSV) as these have never been spent. There are still 19,676 Casascius physical coins left, but only 8,262 of them have been used.

While there’s a few hundred less than 20K physical coins left unpeeled today, the number does not account for how much BTC is left unredeemed. The 19,676 Casascius coin coins that remain unpeeled have approximately 42,516 BTC/UTXOs. According to today’s bitcoin (BTC) exchange rates, that’s $1.9 billion worth of bitcoin.

Casascius’ physical Bitcoins often sell at a higher price than their digital counterparts on secondary market. Unloaded bitcoins can be sold for quite a bit these days, even if the digital money is swept away. Ebay is offering $21,000 for an unloaded 25 BTC bitcoin physical with all the digital funds removed. In fact, it is hard to find a loaded Casascius physical bitcoin and there’s a slew of unfunded coins on the secondary market selling for collectible purposes only.

There were around 43,000 BTC remaining unloaded on 19,920 Casascius bitcoins. Today’s 42,516 BTC is still outstanding. This means that there have been 484 BTC in circulation worth $22.2million over the course of these 198 days.
