Bandanna Sporting Crypto Punk #5822 Sets New Record As It Sells For $23M

The record for highest-selling cryptopunk has been set by a CryptoPunk NFT. Although the collection is over three years old, it was kept in relative obscurity. But with NFT’s popularity they have been one of NFT’s most valued collections. CryptoPunk #5822, which sold for $23M in a recent auction, has become the highest-selling punk.

CryptoPunk #5822 Sold for 8,000 Ethereum

Deepak Thapliyal, the CEO of Chain bought CryptoPunk #5822, which was sold at 8,000 Ethereum, which is more than $23million. The CryptoPunk #5822 is currently the most costly CryptoPunk NFT ever sold. One of 10,000 CryptoPunks was made in 2017. The CryptoPunk’s original owner had purchased the piece for less than one ETH. From then on, they had survived the initial surge in the collection to the present day when their cryptopunk was finally sold for over 7,999 ETH profit.

This is not surprising as this CryptoPunk was sold at such a high price. Numerous CryptoPunks have sold for large sums, sometimes reaching into the millions. Since its inception, CryptoPunk has been traded for more than $9.3 trillion.

Thapliyal purchased CryptoPunk #5822 using his Compound Finance account. Important to remember that CryptoPunk #5822 was purchased by the CEO. This piece which is considered an “alien” in the compilation is one of only nine such pieces in the collection. The reason why the piece and its eight companions are so pricey is because of this.

It is not the most expensive NFT, despite its price. That title belongs to Beeple’s EverydayNFT sold that took over the market. This piece sold for an incredible $69million, a record no one else has broken.

A NFT Holder Resigns for $1.2 Million

CryptoPunk #5822 NFT may be making waves due to its extremely high price, however another piece has made headlines because it refuses to sell at such high prices. Bored Ape Yacht Club, a famous collection that includes 10,000 NFTs, has also been known for its high-end NFT items. Although its pieces are sold all over the world for millions of dollars, one owner isn’t participating in it.

The Golden Ape #1726 had turned down an offer to purchase their Ape for 420 ETH – $1.2 million. CryptoPotato received an explanation from the owner of the Ape that it had been rejected as a low-ball deal. It is one of only 46 pieces made from gold fur that was released by BAYC. Only 1 of 46 pieces have been sold for less than 1,000 ETH.

“I rejected it [read: the offer]Because gold fur apes of BAYC are rarest. Also, it’s my personal brand, and I think with this brand, and owning the ape, I can continue to make residual income,” they told CryptoPotato. “There is only 1 out of 46 gold fur apes listed for sale below 1000 ETH and I would like to still be a part of that group.”

According to the same person, they also have 36 additional Apes. As such, they don’t seem to be in desperate need of cash.
