The CEO of the world’s largest movie exhibition company, AMC Entertainment, has announced that AMC Theatres will accept two meme cryptocurrencies, dogecoin (DOGE) and shiba inu (SHIB), in the coming weeks.
AMC Theatres will be receiving Shiba Inu payments and Dogecoin in March
Adam Aron (CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdings) announced Monday on Twitter that AMC Theatres would accept payments in the two most popular meme cryptos, dogecoin(DOGE), and shiba inu (SHIB), starting March.
AMC Entertainment (NYSE : AMC), also known as AMC Theatres is America’s largest movie-exhibition company. AMC Entertainment owns approximately 950 theaters in the United States and operates 10,500 screens worldwide.
Aron explained that the IT department at AMC Theatres says that “Bitpay will be live for AMC online payments” by March 19 and live on the company’s mobile apps by April 16 or a few days earlier.
Since he ran a twitter poll on dogecoin and another about shiba-inu in September, the CEO promised that AMC Theatres would accept DOGE or SHIB payments.
Aron claimed that Bitpay, a crypto-payment service provider, convinced him to help shiba Inu in November 2017. Aron also claimed that Bitpay would accept SHIB as its first customer.
But, Bitpay supported shiba-inu cryptos in November. Retail giant Newegg soon accepted SHIB as payment.
Aron revealed last year that AMC Theatres now accepts four cryptocurrency: bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), litecoin [LTC], and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). These cryptocurrencies can be paid only via customers’ Paypal accounts.
You think AMC Theatres should accept dogecoin and other shiba-inu cryptocurrency via Bitpay. Please leave your comments below.
