Adidas AG, a multinational German corporation, is teaming with non-fungible tokens (NFT), brands Bored Ape Yacht Club and Punks Comic. Adidas revealed last week that the company partnered with Coinbase and believes the metaverse is one of the most “exciting” developments in digital.

Adidas wants to let the world know it is moving into the field of blockchain technology. On December 2, the company’s Twitter account announced that it teamed up with the cryptocurrency investor GmoneyThe Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Project (BAYC), and Punks Comic.
“Today we leap Into The Metaverse with [Bored Ape Yacht Club], [Gmoney] & [Punks Comic]. It’s time to enter a world of limitless possibilities,” Adidas wroteThis Thursday. It was liked more than 8,000 times, and it was retweeted over 4,000 times. A web portal named Adidas Metaverse is also linked to the tweet. It states that:
It’s happening. Adidas is now in the Metaverse with Punks Comic, Gmoney, and Bored Ape Yacht Club. Let’s go.

It also has updatedThe profile picture of the company on Twitter is a BAYC photo. Adidas bought Bored Ape Yacht Club #8,774, which was sold last for 46ether, or $156K at settlement. The BAYC has heart-shaped sunglasses, a gold hoop for earrings, a “bored” look, a fisherman’s hat, and blue fur. Adidas recently tweeted that the BAYC was wearing a yellow Adidas jacket featuring the three-stripe classic design.

According to statistics from dappradar.com 13 NFTs were held at the address which purchased the BAYC. If Adidas is the owner of the wallet, it also owns Punks Comic: “The Hunt for the Lost Robbies” which was purchased for 6.95 ether. Punks Comic, and recently bought BAYC #8,774, represent the highest-priced NFTs within the wallet. In the same wallet, BAYC #8,774, you will find other NFTs with a floor price of between $17 and $549.
Although it is not known when the merged NFTs of the BAYC & Adidas will be made, the release date has been announced. During last week’s reveal, Adidas detailed it was partnering with the crypto exchange giant Coinbase but also explained it was working with The Sandbox virtual blockchain world. The details about The Sandbox’s collaboration are still to be disclosed.
The company’s main competitor Nike revealed this month the business is also focused on the metaverse. On November 18, Nike published a blog post about “Nikeland,” which explained it has established itself in the virtual world Roblox. Nikeland on Roblox aims to be a “place where competition and creativity are abundant for all.”
