Bastyon.com, a social platform built upon the Bitcoin foundation is Bastyon.com. The platform is distributed and has no central server. Bastyon’s codebase is open source, and everything is governed by the users themselves. Bastyon’s core concept is censorship resistance. By connecting to the nodes directly, it can function even if domains have been blocked. Bastyon uses Pocketcoin (PKOIN), which is a Proof-of-Stake cryptocurrency. It pays content creators as well as node operators that run the network.
Bastyon was created by Daniel Satchkov, originally known as Pocketnet. To discuss the technology, he recently joined Bitcoin.com News Podcast.
Daniel published and worked in quantitative finance, machine learning and other areas. For his article published in Institutional Investor Journals, he won the Peter L. Bernstein prize. Daniel’s mission in inventing the Bastyon was to ensure that people can govern their own communication without arbitrary censorship from large corporations. Daniel is fascinated with the possibility of Bitcoin helping to protect freedom of choice for all and displace not only finance but also other quasi-monopolistic sectors.
