A String of 200 ‘Sleeping Bitcoins’ From 2010 Worth $4.27 Million Moved on Friday – Bitcoin News

Although bitcoin’s price is above its $21K per-unit range, the 4 bitcoin block rewards that were mined in 2010, which was the most recent in 11 years, have not been used. These four blocks were created between September 2010 and October 2010, and 200 bitcoin valued at $4.27million were sent to an unidentified wallet.

Four consecutive block rewards were spent on June 24, according to data.

A large number of so-called ‘sleeping bitcoins’ have awoken from slumber as four block rewards were spent at block height 742,183. These old bitcoins were used to purchase block rewards that had been mined in September 16, 26, and Oct 29, 2010, respectively. Bitcoin miners were rewarded with 50 BTC each time a block was found, as opposed to 6.25 BTC per reward miner today.

The block rewards moved came from four addresses that include “18cxWU,” “1BJmWW,” “1FVVcE,” and “1Hdo8D.” The 2010 spends were caught by the blockchain parser btcparser.com and in all four addresses, the owner did not spend the associated bitcoin cash (BCH) and bitcoinsv (BSV) as those coins still remain idle.

The 200 bitcoins are still inactive at the moment, according to blockchain explorers. Block rewards from 2010 were spent in the same block for a consecutive amount of times, suggesting that one entity owned the block rewards. Also, the two months of bitcoin mining in 2010, September and October suggest that one entity was responsible for spending.

Transfers Had Low Privacy Ratings, ‘Sleeping Bitcoin’ String Spends From 2010 Have Slowed

This suggests that the transactions were not private. Blockchair.com’s privacy-o-meter indicates that the final consolidation into bc1q92 had a privacy score of 0 out of 100. There were vulnerabilities in the transactions, including co-spending and matched addresses.

There haven’t been many strings of 2010 block reward spends since the 2010 mega-whale appeared months ago back in March. A string of 20 block reward strings was used by the mega whale in 2010. Prior to the string of four block subsidies from 2010 spent, a week ago the address “1Li8RF” spent 50 virgin bitcoins, and “1LNqDK” spent 50 BTC from 2010 about a month ago.
