Epic Games, a game development studio, and Lego (the famous building block manufacturer) have announced a partnership in order to create a metaverse for children. The metaverse world is designed to let kids all ages build and create their own experiences. It also protects their rights to play online.
Epic Games and Lego Launch Joint Metaverse
Epic Games and Lego have formed a partnership in order to jointly create the metaverse. According to the Epic Games press release, this metaverse initiative is designed to suit all ages and will allow them to make their own experiences.
This press release details:
This digital adventure is family friendly and will provide kids with tools to help them become more confident and create amazing experiences in an environment that’s safe and supportive.
Both companies did not specify the themes or characters the metaverse would include. The two companies are both familiar with building metaverse-inspired universes. Fortnite is a popular online game. Lego Worlds was an online gaming platform that was created in 2015 to compete with Minecraft.
Children Protection is Priority
This metaverse, which was jointly built will be age-appropriate. It is designed with children in mind and with an objective to protect them from inappropriate content from other sites on the web. The interaction will allow parents to participate and even control the interactions.
Niels Christiansen CEO of The Lego Group spoke out about the importance and value of this focus:
Our responsibility is to do our part. [these experiences]All can feel safe and inspired. Just as we’ve protected children’s rights to safe physical play for generations, we are committed to doing the same for digital play.
Epic Games can solve your problem. Superawesome was acquired by Epic Games in 2020. The business model of Superawesome is to connect kids with safe, digital experiences and then monetize these interactions.
For building this new metaverse, the companies have defined three important principles, that include “protecting children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority, safeguarding children’s privacy by putting their best interests first, and empowering children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.”
