2 ‘Sleeping Bitcoin’ Block Rewards From 2010 Wake up After Sitting Idle for More Than a Decade – Bitcoin News

During the last week bitcoin’s USD value has shed close to 9% as it slipped from $44,239 per unit two days ago, to below the $40K range on Friday. After more than a decade inactive, two bitcoin reward block recipients from 2010 have woken up within the last 24hrs. In the beginning, 100 bitcoins were minted with no privacy concerns and they were valued at more than $4,000,000 at transfer.

The Block Reward Program for Blockchain Parsers: 2 Block Rewards Starting 2010 100 Bitcoin

  • Two bitcoin block subsidies (BTC), stemming in 2010 from bitcoin, were captured by blockchain parsers within the past 24 hours. The addresses had transferred 100 bitcoin. BTC could be bought for around $40K each at the time the transactions were made.
  • The 50 BTC Coinbase Reward was the first transaction that btcparser.com captured. This reward was created on July 14, 2010, which is over eleven years ago. Transaction was sent to an address with no bitcoin holdings. It was verified at block height 723,812. The transaction was processed by btcparser.com at 10:01 PM (UTC) on February 17th, 2022.
2 'Sleeping Bitcoin' Block Rewards From 2010 Wake up After Sitting Idle for More Than a Decade
These are the block rewards for 2010 which were transferred to their respective banks on Thursday and Friday.
  • Metrics from blockchair.com gave the first transaction, a privacy score of 0, which is a “critical” privacy rating. Blockchair.com says the transfer had “four vulnerabilities discovered for the privacy involved in this address.” For instance, “matched addresses” were identified in the BTC transaction.
  • BTCparser.com captured 50 BTC as the next reward block on February 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM (UTC). Privacy on this particular transfer was a bit higher, as it scored a 45 according to Blockchair.com’s privacy meter. “Three vulnerabilities [were] discovered for the privacy involved in this address” including “matched addresses.”
  • BTC Block Subsidy 50 Bitcoin Per Reward were each minted within 2 days. The first transaction on Thursday was made on July 14, 2010. However, the block reward for Friday’s transfer was made two days later. It was made on July 16, 2010.
  • There haven’t been that many 2010 BTC block subsidies spent in 2022. On January 22, 2010, there was one 50 BTC Block reward. It was spent at block height 719.822. The only 2010 block reward this month was the one on Thursday, and the other on Friday. This is approximately the equivalent of three blocks rewards in 2010 that were used to fund 2022.
  • 2022 has yet to see the mysterious whale of 2010 which has transferred thousands and thousands of block rewards.
  • Neben den Block Rewards from 2010 on February 17, 18 and 22, btcparser.com redeemed 100 BTC starting June 21st 2011, which was transferred to another wallet, more than 10 years after block height 723,909.
