La Haus allows Colombians to purchase real estate using Bitcoin

La Haus is a Colombian platform that allows bitcoin investors to purchase real estate directly with cryptocurrency. The platform features a brand new housing development in Santa Marta called Natura City to help kickstart the initiative. This location is just 200 m away from Colombian beaches. The completion of construction is expected to be in 2025.

La Haus collaborated with OpenNode to complete this task. Users can pay the property via Lightning Network, or on-chain, depending upon their requirements. You can either pay the entire amount in Bitcoin or a fraction of it in BTC. The rest will be paid via conventional channels. The apartment’s value is approximately 2.19 Bitcoin or 400,000,000 Colombian Pesos.

Mexico is the best place to expand

La Haus was involved in crypto payments for the second time. In November of this year, La Haus began accepting bitcoin payments to finance a Playa del Carmen housing project. La Haus said at that point that the company intended to make this payment option available to all properties that are listed on their platform.

Rodrigo Sanchez Rios (La Haus President and Co-Founder) spoke about bitcoin payment evolution.

Bitcoin, we believe will be the reserve money of the future. At our core, we’re a tech company. It’s natural for us to be pioneers with this technology.

The regulations surrounding bitcoin’s use as a payment option for real-estate companies are complicated. Bitcoin is considered property in the United States. Therefore, any loss or income resulting form the sale of an asset are subject to capital gains tax. However, crypto continues to be used for real estate transactions, like the purchase of an apartment with stablecoin in Venezuela.
