The goal of a new crowdfunding platform is to fund the Ukrainian military and raise money for them. Recently, the company claimed that it had raised over 2 million stablecoins tether. Some crypto assets donated were sent to the Ukrainian Army and to a fund for volunteers.
Ukraine’s Crypto Donations
Whitepay, a fundraising platform that seeks to assist Ukrainian civilians and the country’s military forces, recently said it had raised 2 million USDT. A tweet by the fund’s March 6th stated that some USDT had been transferred to the Ukrainian Army for its medical requirements. Some of these funds have been transferred into the humanitarian fund which finances volunteers.
It announcementWhitepay, founded by Whitebit (Estonian cryptocurrency exchange Whitebit) and Gleb Urdovychenko, a Ukrainian fintech entrepreneur and crypto entrepreneur. It was created after some reports suggested that Ukraine had received Bitcoin worth $50 Million in just one week. Reports of the fundraise also came as Russia’s invasion and the bombing of sites in Ukraine continued.
Udovychenko was also Whitepay’s CEO and commented on Telegram about the donation. He added:
Yes, I’m in Ukraine. Yes, it’s a real war here. There are people who are fighting in the streets, and they are also supporting one another. Our territorial defense and military will continue to fight the Russian invasions until they are defeated.
Whitepay also solicited crypto donations for the Ukrainian defence forces. In a second tweet, Whitepay stated that it was raising funds to support the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine and civilians who have been affected.
