Ukraine’s Cyberpolice Force Starts Accepting Cryptocurrency Donations – Bitcoin News

The Cyberpolice unit in Ukraine has decided to seek assistance from both the local and international crypto communities, as the country increasingly relies on cryptocurrency donations. To support law enforcement agencies, and to acquire supplies essentials, the unit accepts cryptocurrencies.

Cyberpolice Ukraine’s Latest Government Body to Solicit Crypto Donations

Cyberpolice, the National Police of Ukraine’s Cyberpolice division has joined forces with the Kyiv government and Ukrainian non-governmental organizations trying to secure funding via cryptocurrency in the face of Russian military aggression. The unit has recently posted an announcement on its website requesting “charitable assistance” in the form of digital coins.

The agency is accepting donations in Bitcoin (BTC), ether(ETH), USDT), tron [TRX], polygon (MATIC), BNB, and tether (“USDT”) at the moment. According to it, the move was initiated in relation to Ukraine’s introduction of martial law.

All coins collected will go to the support of the National Police and National Guard as well as the State Border Guard Service and State Emergency Service. You can also use the digital currency to purchase medicine and other necessities, as well as provide care for Russian hostilities victims.

“Also, people who want to support Ukraine in this difficult time can connect their mining equipment or part of it to these ethereum and bitcoin wallets,” the department adds in the notice.

The Cyberpolice force is Ukraine’s law enforcement body responsible for combating cybercrime. Although it has been involved in operations to stop illegal crypto activity in the past, the Cyberpolice force in Ukraine in 2018 called for legalization of cryptocurrency despite some reservations.

When Russia launched their military operation a week earlier, Ukraine was still in the process to regulate its crypto-space. In mid-February, Verkhovna Rada, the country’s legislature, adopted the law “On Virtual Assets” which was expected to enter into force after an update of the Ukrainian Tax Code.

The authorities of Kyiv have been seeking financial help through different channels since the Russian invasion. Crypto donations have been a success for the government, which has raised millions of dollars via bitcoin, ether and other currencies such as dogecoin and polkadot. Donors of cryptocurrency have also funded volunteer groups.

Global crypto communities have supported humanitarian efforts to help Ukraine. The world’s largest crypto exchange, Binance, pledged $10 million to help the Ukrainian people and currently facilitates assistance from third parties through a crowdfunding initiative.

You can support Ukrainian families, children, refugees, and displaced people by donating BTC, ETH, and BNB to Binance Charity’s Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund.
