Based On A Twitter Poll, Airbnb Users May Get Crypto Payment This Year

Based on recent tweet polls, Brian Chesky (CEO of Airbnb) suggested that Airbnb may accept cryptocurrency payments.

Many businesses now offer crypto payments to customers. Some businesses take a different approach when it comes to crypto adoption.

According to Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky the top feature that users want in 2022 is to be able to make cryptocurrency payments to book their accommodation.

“If Airbnb could launch anything in 2022, what would it be?” Chesky tweeted over the weekend.

The list of six top suggestions from approximately 4,000 submitted was revealed two days later.

Clear pricing displays, a guest loyalty program, updated cleaning fees, more long-term stays and discounts, better customer service, and “commercial spaces (kitchens, co-working)” are among the other top proposals. Airbnb CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, stated that his company was looking into commercial opportunities.

“Already working on most, will look into others now.”

Airbnb has an online marketplace for the travel industry. There are already over 5.6 million listings worldwide, according to the company’s website. In addition, the company claims that over 4,000,000 Airbnb hosts have registered their properties to the marketplace.

Airbnb will accept Visa Mastercard, American Express and JCB payment options in most countries. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal are all accepted. Airbnb does not currently accept cryptocurrency for payment.

Airbnb Rival Already Into Crypto Pay

Although Airbnb has just begun crypto-pay, DTravel is a decentralized home sharing platform that made it possible for cryptocurrency payments in 2021.

This platform integrates into Travala.com. The platform is controlled by the DTravel (TRVL token) which is backed Binance.

Customers may book 250,000 homes using cryptocurrency. You can book homes using the TRVL token, which has a worldwide network of 20,000 houses. TRVL token can be listed on major exchanges like MEXC Global and Bybit Gate.

Since a while, Airbnb is also considering cryptocurrency pay. “We have been following the space for quite a long time,” Chesky said, noting that “the founder of Coinbase was an early employee of ours.”

“The key is when regular people understand how the new technology improved their lives, beyond the initial excitement,” the CEO added. “I’m particularly enthusiastic about several applications that ordinary people could utilize to improve their daily lives.”
