Tony Hawk Partners With the Sandbox to Open a Skate Park in the Metaverse – Bitcoin News

Tony Hawk is a well-known skateboarder and plans to create a park for skateboarders in metaverse. The project, in collaboration with Autograph and The Sandbox, will create NFTs from voxel representations that the skateboarder, to be usable in The Sandbox metaverse.

Tony Hawk takes skateboarding into the Metaverse

A growing number of athletes take their sports to the virtual realms for fans to connect and enjoy their actions. Tony Hawk, a well-known and respected skateboarder, announced his plans to create a virtual skateboarding park within the metaverse. The park will be constructed in collaboration with The Sandbox, an electronica-based metaverse experience. Players can use their skateboards or NFTs freely.

The skateboarder will also collaborate with Autograph, a high-profile NFT company co-founded by Tom Brady, to produce NFTs based on his most memorable moments and apparel, that fans will also be able to leverage in The Sandbox’s metaverse. He is not the first artist to try the NFT, having previously released multiple NTF collections, including some that were accompanied by physical skateboards.

Hawk said the following about his next move

I have been a fan of new technology all of my life — from the first videogames and home computers with CGI capabilities — so I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the virtual landscape of The Sandbox.

After hearing it on the Silkroad marketplace, the skateboarder became a early crypto supporter.


Metaverse Hub: Celebrities and Brands

The Sandbox, which is a platform for exploring the metaverse based on Ethereum, has become a popular hub where brands and celebrities can launch digital representations and experiences of their products. The partnership with Adidas, Snoop Dogg and Jamiroquai has seen the game become a popular platform. Companies like Ubisoft and Square Enix have released some of their IPs in The Sandbox’s metaverse, bringing the Rabbids and Dungeon Siege to this digital world.

According to reports, the company was reportedly considering new financing rounds that would have an estimated $400 million in funding and a valuation of $4 billion. The reports have not been confirmed. The Sandbox raised $93 Million in the series B round of capital funding in November.
