Bitcoin Argentina is an NGO that promotes and expands Bitcoin in Argentina. It will now offer Bitcoin education at high school. The project, called “Schools and Bitcoin,” will help educate high school students about the relevance of Bitcoin and the differences between this alternative system of money and the traditional fiat finance structure.
Bitcoin Argentina to Teach High School Students
Chainalysis has published numbers that show Argentina as one of the top countries for crypto adoption. Due to currency controls and inflation, some citizens have fled the country to use crypto and bitcoin. Bitcoin Argentina is an NGO that works to expand the Bitcoin ecosystem. It has launched an educational project to help high school students learn more about Bitcoin.
The project, called “Schools and Bitcoin,” launched in partnership with humanitarian initiative Built with Bitcoin, aims to teach high school students about this new alternate finance system. Jimena Vallone, from Bitcoin Argentina said that the project is a continuation of a previous pilot project where students in Argentina were enthusiastic about learning more about Bitcoin. She shared the following:
The desire to invent, learn about Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies, as well as to be able to teach and train others is what drives them. This was the basis for the idea of the project. We started with 40 schools but hope to expand.
The Needs Driven Project
“Schools and Bitcoin” aims to reach more than 4,000 high schoolers, with classes and the content of this Bitcoin course to be adapted to each of the regions where these classes will be held. Vallone said:
Every school has its own unique content. Argentina is diverse, and it’s important to consider each context before introducing material.
However, the core will be the same, teaching students about the “transparent, open, inclusive, traceable and secure” traits of Bitcoin. This initiative is the first of its kind in Latam. Countries like Brazil, Venezuela, and Venezuela have been active in the crypto sector.
It is notable that the approval of this education project was granted in light of the agreement between Argentina’s International Monetary Fund to reduce its debt. This clause suggested the government would discourage crypto use in Argentina.
