Blizzard (a gaming studio that is part of Activision–Blizzard) has launched a survey to get feedback from gamers on the use of NFTs, and other cryptocurrency elements. Although the survey was limited to a few players only, it raised concerns about whether the company might introduce some of these elements in its games. Mike Ybarra (head of the studio) denied any such possibility.

Blizzard Creates a Selective Poll, Which Includes NFTs & Play-to Earn Subjects

Blizzard (the game design studio behind Starcraft, Warcraft, Overwatch) is asking gamers for their thoughts on NFTs. According to sourcesOn social media, players were surveyed about topics such as cloud gaming and augmented reality.

The survey asked users for their opinions on NFTs, cryptocurrency and other elements being included in certain gaming IPs. Although the survey didn’t directly indicate the inclusion of these mechanisms in any games, some gamers expressed concern about this possibility.

NFTs can’t be done by any one.

The Future of NFTs

Blizzard fans were shocked by Ybarra’s answer and survey. They deemed the situation absurd. The poll may be relevant to Activision Blizzard’s future, following the January acquisition of Microsoft worth almost $69 Billion.

The future owner of the company, if the purchase clears the legal hurdles it faces, might be interested in taking some of Blizzard’s IPs to experiment with them, which would explain the existence of the exploratory poll. There is no information available about where the poll originated.

The NFTs as well as the “play-to-earn” phenomenon have been hotly contested topics by AAA gamers. They have resisted the inclusion of such elements in their traditional games. Some companies include them in their business plans and even invest in companies that are involved in this field.

Ubisoft is one of the pro-crypto firms. It has launched Quartz NFT Market and has backed Animoca Brands. Animoca Brands owns The Sandbox which is one of the most popular metaverse-based platforms. Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda has also declared support for these types of features, highlighting their benefits in a new year’s letter.
