Telegram Users Can Send and Receive Toncoin Within Messenger Chats – Bitcoin News

Date:

Telegram users can now send and receive toncoin directly within the application’s chats, according to a tweet by The Open Network (TON) Foundation. In addition to the toncoin support, users can also purchase bitcoin via the software’s bot system.

TON Foundation Releases Telegram Toncoin support, users can buy Bitcoin using Bot

The ability to send and receive cryptocurrency using Telegram is now possible using the TON Foundation’s toncoin. Before, it was possible to send digital currency via third-party apps tethered directly to Telegram.

This is however the first time that toncoin has been made available in the United States since Telegram’s June 2020 settlement with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission. Telegram was brought to court by the SEC over their toncoin venture in October 2019.

Follow the TON Foundation on Twitter said: “You can now send toncoin directly within Telegram chats. It’s a new way to send Toncoin without transaction fees to any Telegram user. With this service, you’ll no longer need to enter long wallet addresses and wait for confirmations.”

Although users are able to send and receive bitcoin, they can also buy BTC with the wallet bot. Telegram dropped the TON project in August 2020, but in April the community raised $1 billion to further the project’s goals.

The TON Foundation also has a presence in decentralized finance (defi), as well as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Disintar.io is a TON-based marketplace for NFTs. It was launched just recently by the foundation.

“On Disintar.io, users can buy, sell, and list NFTs without having any technical knowledge,” the TON Foundation explained. Toncoin reached $5.29 an unit six months ago, at its all-time highest (ATH), on November 12, 2021.

Since then toncoin’s USD value has slid 64.8% lower than the ATH. Toncoin trades at $1.86 an unit today and sees around $2746,626 daily in volume.
