Sneakmart’s Metakicks Digitizes Limited-Edition Sneakers As NFTs Through An Upcoming Mystery Box Drop

The next step in bringing NFTs to all is finding mainstream applications for these tokens. Sneakmart is a French startup that specializes in streetwear and is now looking to tap into the market for sneaker collectors. Through mystery sneakers boxes, the company will offer limited-edition sneaker NFTs for collectors around the world.

Sneakmart Modernizes Sneaker Collecting

The resale of rare sneakers at a greater value is one of the top trends of recent years. You can make a lot of money from this business, which could yield up to 10 times the original purchase price. The sneakerheads are passionate about collecting, wearing and showing off their shoe collection, but it’s difficult for newcomers to be able to access these rare drops.

Sneakers make up a significant portion of the resale industry, with sales exceeding $6 billion each year. It is a growing market with rising prices across secondary markets, confirming the demand for these shoes isn’t slowing down yet. Sneakmart believes there is a way to increase this market using NFT technology. These tokens, which are not fungible, are very popular in secondary markets. They can sometimes fetch more than a fair price.

Sneakmart is a brand that has made its mark in the streetwear market through an app for mobile. That expertise has given the company insights into how buying physical pairs isn’t too different from acquiring digital pairs to collect and resell. Moreover, there is the recent acquisition of RTFKT by Nike, confirming manufacturers’ look toward digital sneakers and accessories as NFTs.

The Metakicks Initiative

Sneakmart has launched Metakicks to further explore the possibilities in digital. This NFT-inspired collection of sneakers is distributed in mystery boxes. When users acquire a Metakicks mystery box, they won’t know which sneaker pair they will get. You can either open the mystery box to use your NFTs in metaverse, or you may resell it on the secondary markets. From February 2022, there will be 6,250 Metakicks box available.

Anthony Debrandt, CEO and co-founder of Sneakmart, adds:

“Sneaker addicts love to collect and wear a lot of sneakers. Today, everybody loves sneakers and wears them. With Metakicks, we want to give the opportunity to start collecting digital sneakers through unique designs.”

Each pair of shoes must adhere to the unique 15 3D animated sneaker designs. Additionally, there are 4 levels of rarity. Each tier has different quantities. These mystery boxes will also include unique editions that feature celebrities.

Additionally, mystery boxes have a 10% chance at winning limited edition sneakers. These odds are more than 20% higher than participating in an actual sneaker drop. Through collaborations with brands like Savoir Fair Paris, Metakicks will also be getting a number of 1-of-1 pairs. It’s a fantastic way to bridge between physical and virtual sneakers, NFTs, collectibles, and other items.
