Many people on social media expressed their disbelief at Goldman Sachs’ move to feature crypto and the metaverse above other topics on its homepage.

Many people pointed out that Goldman Sachs, the world’s largest investment bank, has moved a lot since it first assessed bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Goldman Sachs declared that Bitcoin was not an investment class as of May 2020.

After seeing huge institutional demand, the bank brought back its Bitcoin trading desk in March 2013. The bank officially launched a Bitcoin derivatives trading platform and established cryptocurrency trading teams. Goldman Sachs’ analysts said at the time that bitcoin is now considered an investable asset. The bank also expanded its crypto trading desk in June to offer ether options and futures.

Goldman Sachs completed its first OTC crypto transaction earlier this week with Galaxy Digital. In January, the bank’s analysts predicted that bitcoin could reach $100,000 as the cryptocurrency continues to take gold’s market share.

Goldman Sachs stated in January that the metaverse is an $8 trillion business opportunity.
