Former Tiktok Gaming Boss Launches Metao, a ‘Blockchain Agnostic’ Gaming Company – Blockchain Bitcoin News

Date:

Jason Fung was previously the head of gaming for Tiktok (video-based social media), and is now launching a crypto-based gaming company. The company, called Metao, will focus on providing “blockchain-agnostic” solutions that will allow Web3 game creators to expand their reach and not be limited to just a chain and an ecosystem tied to a certain token.

Metao will focus on interoperability

Blockchain has become a key element for many companies trying to integrate gaming and crypto currency. Jason Fung is the former gaming chief at Tiktok (one of the most popular video-based social media networks), and is currently launching a crypto-based gaming firm. Metao is the name of the company. It will offer a platform for companies to create blockchain-based games in much the same manner that companies such as Unity license their technology to other companies.

It would allow developers to concentrate on their content, and leave behind the complexity involved in integrating these systems. Metao also aims to reduce segregation and increase interoperability in order to eliminate the problems many startup face trying to implement games within a single chain linked to token ecosystems.

Fung shared the following:

Right now, developers have to pick one type of blockchain when implementing NFTs or Blockchain in their games. Imagine a better interoperable solution.

A ‘Blockchain-Agnostic’ Solution

Fung, along with an undisclosed cofounder, is the company’s only employee. They have developed technology to allow game developers to publish games on any blockchain. This will also give each user the ability to save tokens or items to their preferred ones. Fung explained that this was possible because:

We’ve built a protocol for game developers, and we take a flexible, blockchain-agnostic approach to their game development. With a protocol that we’re developing, developers can easily build their game leveraging strengths of different blockchains, and allow the user the flexibility of transferring their NFTs cross-chain.

Web3 technology and blockchain have been used by several startups in gaming, however none of the big names in the sector has created an IP-based game using these technologies. Square Enix and Ubisoft have spoken out about blockchains and NFTs’ importance for the industry and included the tech in their future financial plans.
