Cardano Foundation Doubles Reward Offered to Hackers for Uncovering Bugs on Its Blockchain – Security Bitcoin News

Recent announcements by the Cardano Foundation stated that they have doubled the amount offered to hackers or bounty hunters who find bugs and vulnerabilities in the Cardano Blockchain. The foundation said the six-week promotion, which runs until March 25, 2022, is part of an ongoing attempt to keep “its businesses and customers safe.”

Cardano Brand Strengthening

Recently, the Cardano Foundation announced a new promotion which will double the rewards for bounty hunters who find vulnerabilities in the Cardano ecosystem. From February 14th hackers and bounty hunters who find critical vulnerabilities within the Cardano Node can be eligible for a maximum $20,000.

Hackers who find the most critical vulnerability or bug in the node will receive $800. However, bounty hunters will get a maximum $15,000 payout if they uncover the most critical vulnerability in Cardano Wallet. Hackers who find the least critical vulnerabilities will only be paid $600.

In a statement explaining its decision to start the six-week promotion, The Cardano Foundation suggested that finding vulnerabilities is what can “keep our businesses and customers safe.” The foundation also said:

This program aims to consolidate the Cardano brand via this public bug bounty program. It covers essential items that allow you to manage and access crypto assets issued on Cardano’s blockchain.

Scope of Reward Programme

Meanwhile, the statement clarifies that “the scope of the bug bounty program will not include any UI or general functionality bugs.” It will, however, include bugs or vulnerabilities that lead to the leakage of sensitive information, the foundation said. Program includes bug bounty programs for attacks on the quality or integrity of the blockchain and service crashes.

In addition, the foundation asked hackers that uncover areas that may be seen as “an exploitable vulnerability” to reach out so arrangements can be made to discuss these “on a case-by-case basis.”
