Cardano Foundation Completes Funding To Plant 1 Million Trees

The Veritree and the Cardano Foundation partnered to plant one million trees last year. This partnership was part of the project’s commitment towards going carbon green and helping to combat climate change. The foundation continued pushing this project over the following months and raising funds for it. As soon as the project is funded, the foundation can begin planting one million trees.

Recent research has shown that tweetFrederik Gregaard (Chairman of the Cardano Foundation), confirmed that 100% had been raised and the project is now ready for action. #CardanoForest aims to plant trees and restore local ecosystems and combat deforestation. Cardano will continue to promote its Cardano Global Impact Challenge, which will be the first in a series of others.

It shows the Cardano Foundation’s commitment to the well-being of the environment and maintaining a green footprint. Vertiree, a blockchain-based startup, has partnered with the Cardano Foundation. Vertiree utilizes blockchain technology to help tree-planting across the globe. It also keeps track of which trees have been planted.

Cardano residents provided the funding for 1,000,000 trees. Those who donated 15 ADA or above will be awarded a Digital Land Restoration Certificate. In addition to other rewards, they can exchange their ADA with TREE tokens via a 1:1 swap. Each ADA will plant one tree. As of today, there are 1,001,000 funds available through this program.

Gregaard has confirmed via Twitter that efforts by #CardanoForest in Mombasa, Kenya will support local ecosystem development and land restoration. In addition, “All trees planted will be recorded on the Cardano blockchain for enhanced transparency and serve as public proof of land restoration activities,” the CEO said.

A Position To Save The Climate

Cardano is a proof network of stakes and has always been committed to the protection of our environment. It has now partnered with Veritree to replenish the forests around the globe. It plans to plant trees in a variety of countries including Kenya, Madagascar, Indonesia and Senegal.

This was done in order to reduce the impact of crypto mining upon the climate. It uses enormous amounts of energy to verify transactions in cases of proof-of-work mechanisms.

In a tweet, CEO Frederik Gregaard reiterates Cardano’s commitment to positioning the blockchain as a global leader in climate change.

Cardano has set itself the goal to reduce carbon emissions and is actively working on changing perceptions of blockchain technology. “Together we all share a mission to see Cardano deliver as a blockchain for good,” said Gregaard.
