Animoca Brands, Yuga Labs Tease Bored Ape Secret Project ‘Powered by Apecoin’   – Bitcoin News

Three days after the token launched, APE (the digital currency apecoin) has been an ongoing topic in cryptocurrency forums and on social media. The airdrop has already given APE to 13,672 addresses, which is just above 82%. The Bored Ape Yacht Club creators shared this video. It shows a BAYC metaverse that includes a variety of popular characters, non-fungible tokens (NFT).

This week, there’s been a lot of focus on a new crypto asset called apecoin (APE) as it was introduced on March 17, 2022, by the Apecoin DAO. Bitcoin.com News detailed the Apecoin DAO’s announcement and how millions of tokens for apecoin were delivered to NFT holders. More specifically, Apecoin DAO disclosed that “15% of the total supply of apecoin will be made available to [Bored Ape Yacht Club] NFT holders (Bored Apes and Mutant Apes, as well as BAKC dogs paired with either BAYC or MAYC).”

Apecoin (APE), which currently has a market cap of $1.53 Billion, is circulating with an estimated supply of 131.188.484 APE. APE has 28681 current owners. At the time of writing the ERC20 had recorded 157 982 onchain transactions since its creation.

NFT owners have acquired 82.25% (of the 15% claimable) of apecoins as of this writing. APE can be claimed by 15,182 distinct addresses. To date, tokens have been claimed at 13,672 addresses. Apecoin (APE), which currently trades at $1.53 million, has been hovering around the top 100 coin markets caps. APE only represents 0.8% of $1.9 trillion in crypto currency value. APE had close to $2 billion of global trade volume Saturday. Binance was the leading exchange for APE trade volume.

Yuga Labs teases Metaverse video with popular NFT characters, Animoca Brands Hints At Apecoin Secret Project

Yuga Labs claims the remaining APE and trades swap it on exchanges. teased a video concerning the coin’s use case. “See you on the Otherside in April. Powered by @apecoin,” Yuga Labs’ statement accompanying the video explained. This video shows a Bored Ape consuming a magical potion which takes him to another world with NFT characters.

As the popular song by the Doors “Break on Through” plays in the background, the star BAYC character in the video is greeted by a submarine-like vehicle filled with NFTs that include Cryptopunks, Cryptoadz, Nouns, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Cool Cats, World of Women (WoW), and Meebits characters. Animoca Brands posted a tweet on March 17 stating that the company had something else in its arsenal regarding apecoin. According to the company:

Animoca Brands is excited to announce that we’ll be adopting [apecoin] for the secret project we’ve been developing with [Bored Ape Yacht Club].

While the registration website somethingisbrewing.xyz says to connect to Metamask, it also says: “Connect to get KYC-verified. If you’ve previously been verified with Blockpass, you won’t need to re-apply.”

Animoca Brands also left a link with the tweet to a URL called somethingisbrewing.xyz where people can register. The web portal showcases similar visuals that can be found in the recently teased Yuga Labs’ video. Registering visitors will need to use the Metamask wallet and also be KYC-verified through Blockpass. The company is a KYC & AML screening software-as-a-service firm dedicated to crypto assets and decentralized finance (defi).

The blockchain firm Animoca Brands revealed its collaboration with Blockpass in September 2021 when the company stated it was leveraging the firm’s KYC tool to “verify NFT prize winners.” Yat Siu, the co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands, said Blockpass technology can bring a “higher level of compliance” to the NFT ecosystem.
