Press release
PRICE RELEASEBasqet, a blockchain payments startup, recently announced that it has launched its cryptocurrency payment gateway. This will enable businesses to accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies for payments.
Basqet stated that the beta is being launched and that 118 businesses have already registered for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payments.
Basqet revealed to us that it had made $1.3 million in transactions with just a few businesses before the beta launch.
According to Bunmi Eleshin, Senior Product Manager at Basqet “we are creating a missing link between people who hold cryptocurrency and businesses who want to accept crypto as a means of payment. And we are doing it without merchants having to experience a loss due to crypto’s price volatility”.
There has been much discussion since Bitcoin became mainstream media. Basqet may be the first to adopt crypto as it will allow people to buy and pay services with crypto, in addition to speculation.
One of the greatest concerns about crypto payments is its rapid price fluctuations. Basqet claims that they have a solution to this problem by allowing merchants the ability to accept crypto payments and settle their transactions in US dollars, crypto and more than 5 local African currencies, without any volatility. So when a merchant is selling a product for $20 they will always receive the equivalent value in the currency they choose regardless of crypto’s price volatility.
Basqet is a cryptocurrency payment platform that works in the same way as Stripe, Flutterwave and Paystack for Africa. The potential for them to be used by business owners, freelancers, and fintechs to accept many cryptos in donations, payments, and deposits. They could also reduce regular transaction fees up to 60%, with no chargebacks.
Basqet’s team also confirmed that merchants can accept cryptocurrency for the beta launch, including USDT, Bitcoin and Ethereum, with many more being added in the coming weeks.
Merchants that sign up for Basqet’s beta launch will have 3 ways to accept crypto; payment link, payment button, and Basqet API.
Basqet stated in a press release that businesses without websites can accept cryptocurrency payments using the payment link. Basqet stated that signing up for the payment service takes only 10 minutes and can be sent to customers via WhatsApp, Instagram, or other channels.
