Gwyneth paltrow, the Hollywood actress is offering $500,000 in Bitcoin for the Holidays. The winners are chosen at random and given bitcoin in “$20 increments and $100 increments.” She explained: “I wanted to do it to get women — my followers specifically, and Marvel fans — feeling excited” about bitcoin so they can “play around with it” and “trade it.”

Gwyneth, an actress and entrepreneur announced Monday she will give away $500,000 in Bitcoin for the holidays through Cash App. The mobile payment platform was created by Block Inc., previously known as Square Inc.

“I’m giving out $500K worth of bitcoin for the holidays,” she tweeted. Paltrow explained that “Buying crypto has often felt exclusionary,” noting that Cash App “is now making it easy to gift bitcoin … in order to democratize who can participate.”

Elle magazine interviewed the actress Monday to discuss how she can let her fans participate in the giveaway.

Paltrow participated recently in an investment round that involved the Bitcoin mining company Terawulf. Abra appointed her as an advisor in 2017.

Block Payments launched last week a gifting function. “With Cash App, you can now send as little as $1 in stock or bitcoin. It’s as easy as sending cash, and you don’t need to own stock or bitcoin to gift it. So this holiday season, forget the scented candles or novelty beach towel, and help your cousin start investing,” the official Cash App Twitter account wrote.

Celebrities are increasingly giving bitcoin away. Odell Beckham Jr., a U.S. soccer star, gave away $1,000,000 in BTC via Cash App. He announced that he would be taking his new salary in cryptocurrency.

Aaron Rodgers (American football quarterback) gave away $1,000,000 in bitcoin that month. Megan Thee Stallion, rapper from hip-hop, gave away $1,000,000 in bitcoin last December.

Celebrities have partnered with cryptocurrency exchanges in order to offer small amounts of bitcoin for their fans to start trading crypto currencies. Mariah Carey, an award-winning musician gave $20 to her fans in bitcoin for signing up at crypto exchange Gemini in October.

Bitcoin.com also offers $25,000 cash prizes from now through the end of 2018.
