Sling TV, an American streaming TV service has revealed that it now accepts cryptocurrency payments from subscribers. Sling TV stated that the company will use Bitpay as a cryptocurrency payment provider and accept seven different currencies and five stablecoins.
Sling TV will accept Crypto Assets in return for a monthly subscription service
Sling TV LLC has announced that Bitpay, an Atlanta-based crypto payments provider, has joined forces with it. Bitpay will now accept various cryptocurrency assets as monthly subscription payments. Sling TV LLC is a streaming service that provides a variety of channels, which cable companies do not offer. Dish Network is the company’s subsidiary. The satellite direct broadcaster also accepts crypto payment for its subscription services. Cordcuttersnews.com data indicates that Sling had more than 2 million subscribers as of September 2021.
Sling offers over-the-top (OTT-originated) services via web browsers. Smart TVs. Digital media players. Accepting crypto exemplifies the company’s desire to bring “choice and convenience to its check-out process,” Sling’s announcement notes. Monthly subscribers to SlingTV can pay their bill with Bitcoin (BTC), BCH, bitcoin cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), wrap bitcoin (WBTC), Dogecoins (DOGE) or Litecoins (LTC). Sling customers can also choose to pay using the stablecoins GUSDC, USDC and USDP as well as DAII, BUSD, and BUSD.

Sling TV subscribers now have the option to pay their monthly subscription using cryptocurrency. Through the payment provider Bitpay, users can now select and pay for their favorite digital streaming service with their preferred digital currency – whether it’s bitcoin, ethereum or dogecoin.
Sling is a streaming television service. It follows several companies that have added crypto payment support in the past twelve months. Over the last year, well known brands such as Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP), Sheetz convenience stores, Phillips Auction House, Verifone, Sotheby’s, RM Sotheby’s, American Residential Warranty (ARW), and Tifon gas stations have added crypto payment support. A Visa survey revealed that nearly four out of every four respondents planned to accept cryptocurrency payments in January.
Customers who have an active monthly Sling TV subscription are currently able to pay in digital currency. A new subscriber will have to first pay using a regular payment method. Then, the option to use crypto currency the following month will become available. “Sling customers can only make one monthly, manual payment with Bitpay, but will have the choice to prepay for one to six months at a time,” Sling’s summary of the new payment system concludes.
