Date:

A Cryptopunk NFT that was donated to support the country’s war-torn nation has been sold by Ukraine’s government. The token has been purchased by an unidentified buyer who spent more than $100,000 in ethereum for the collectible, the country’s digital transformation ministry said.

For 90 Ethereum, the Ukraine Government has sold a donated Cryptopunk Token

The sale of Cryptopunk tokens (NFT) has raised more than $100,000 for Ukrainian authorities, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Federorov, and Alexander Bornyakov announced via social media. An unknown investor purchased the unique collectible for 90 Ethereum (ETH).

Cryptopunk #5364 was given to Aid for Ukraine in March. Bornyakov claimed that it was worth 56 Ethereum at the time. However, the value of ethereum was much higher than before the recent crypto market crash.

This former Soviet republic was an East European nation that was invaded by Russia on the 24th of February. In recent years, Kyiv’s government and many volunteer groups have relied more heavily on cryptocurrency donations, such as NFTs. Already, the country has raised millions of dollars for its humanitarian and defense efforts.

Alex Bornyakov tweeted Monday that the global crypto community continued to support Ukraine. He announced the sale of the Cryptopunk token. “Just wanted to thank crypto community for such generous donations,” Mykhailo Fedorov, who also serves as Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister, tweeted on Tuesday.

Cryptopunks is a NFT-collector on Ethereum. The project was launched in 2017 and offered some of crypto’s first collectibles. Cryptopunk #5364 was not the first token that is non-fungible to raise funds for Ukraine. A NFT for the Ukrainian flag was sold in March to raise over $6.7million in ethereum.

You can support Ukrainian families, children, refugees, and displaced people by donating BTC, ETH, and BNB to Binance Charity’s Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund.
