In the last months, crypto spam activity has increased by 3,894%. LunarCrush, an intelligence platform for cryptocurrency, published the following report.

It showed significant growth in crypto with the expansion of social media. This report showed that the All-Time High (ATH) of scam bots and social media post increased. This report arrived amid the world’s leading billionaire, Elon Musk’s commentTwitter is being spambot-flooded.

Twitter Will Be The Forum For Spam Accounts

Twitter’s would-be owner has severally emphasized the growing presence and influence of cryptocurrency scammers, spambots, and links to phishing websites on the social media network. LunarCrush, an analytics firm and cryptocurrency metrics provider, created a report about the matter.

We can see from the analysis that Twitter’s number of spam-related entities has increased by more than 3,894% between 2019 and now. The report revealed that cryptocurrency spam was the most growing social metric, in comparison to all other metrics.

Hub For Cryptocurrency Spams?

Twitter is an important social media platform that many sectors use for communications and announcements. Twitter serves as a platform for the cryptocurrency sector. There’s even a sub-niche for cryptocurrency, blockchains, NFTs, and others on Twitter.

Therefore, it’s effortless for individuals to open any well-known Crypto Twitter niche and learn anything they need on cryptocurrency.

Besides that, the report from LunarCrush showed that Twitter isn’t left out of the rising crypto spams on social media. The report revealed that spam volume on the platform has increased by more than 1,374% in the last two years. These spambots are most likely to target beginners and attempt to steal individuals.

Also, another shocking news is that the spam accounts aren’t operated by spambots but by individuals. According to the report, it was found that either one individual manages multiple accounts or many individuals have one. This makes it difficult for Twitter’s built-in bots to spot spam and penalize those who do.

Matti Greenspan was told by LunarCrush’s CEO about The Issue

Joe Vezanni (CEO of LunarCrush), explained the subject to Matti Greenspan of Quantum Economics in his crypto newsletter. He explained in the newsletter that Twitter, which is a Web2 site like Twitter, has a direct incentive to ignore current fake accounts. Vezanni buttressed that this boosts the platform’s value.
