Bandai Namco Begin Building Its Metaverse with Gundam
Bandai Namco is a Japanese publishing and game development company. They have provided more information about their $130 million metaverse investment. [This metaverse will be a]Platform for Gundam enthusiasts worldwide to connect and converse in many categories.
The franchise’s fans will have the opportunity to join different communities, including music, anime and video games.
Additionally, users can scan Gunpla models in order to bring them into the metaverse or face off against other Gunpla users.
User Content Is King
Bandai Namco’s first metaverse instance will be used as a device to interest more companies to promote the entry of other companies into the Gundam market inside of the metaverse. This will allow other companies to offer Gundam-themed products after Bandai Namco approves.
Bandai Namco’s focus on the users in its upcoming system is important, too. The announcement states that users can also create Gundam content in the customer-tocustomer (C2C), business model. The feature allows users to make money from their creations. This will create a sustainable economic relationship between consumers and content creators. On this, Bandai Namco stated it “expects that new Gundam businesses will be created and that this will lead to further expansion of Gundam IP co-created with fans.”
Others have recognized the value of user-generated content economies and rewards as an option to increase the game’s longevity. Square Enix’s president YosukeMatsuda expressed his support in writing in January for the new features.
