Flexid Technologies, which is a blockchain startup, stated that its solution has been used by thousands in Zimbabwe to promote the use digital identities.
Use technology to lower healthcare costs
Flexid Technologies is a blockchain startup that recently announced it made their digital identity system available to 15,000 households as well as 50,000 people who participated in a baseline survey of Zimbabweans. Ubuntu Clinic was the local healthcare provider that conducted the survey. It took place between 2021-early 2022.
Victor Mapunga (CEO and co-founder at Flexid Technologies) explained the reasons why his company participated in the survey. He explained:
Our belief is that technology can be harnessed in healthcare to drive down costs and improve patient outcomes.
Mapunga also suggested the survey findings would be helpful in shaping his company’s blockchain-enabled digital identity solution for patients and health workers not only in Zimbabwe but across the African continent.
Based on the Algorand blockchain, Singapore-registered Flexid Technologies’ digital identity solution allows users to instantly authenticate a patient’s medical data. Mapunga countered that data stored on blockchain protects from common issues like data theft and corruption.
Munyaradzi Chkonda is the founder of Ubuntu Clinics and CEO. He said that the findings from the survey would be applied to the design of a solution which can decrease the dangers that lack access to health care facilities poses to vulnerable populations.
