Optimism Raises $150 Million in Series B Funding Round Led by Paradigm and A16z – Bitcoin News

Date:

In its Series B financing round, Optimism (an L2 (Layer 2) rollup platform for Ethereum) has received $150 million from large companies within the venture capital (VC). Paradigm as well as A16z were the leaders of the round. Paradigm also participated in the last round. This fund injection helped the scaling solution reach a valuation exceeding $1.65Billion, well beyond unicorn status.

To Keep Growing, Optimism is Supported

In its Series B financing round, $150 million was invested in Optimism. This solution allows you to transact on Ethereum at low fees. Paradigm and A16z led the round. It was one of L2’s most important expansion layers.

These scaling technologies are being considered by VCs as a key to the future success of Ethereum. Although Ethereum fees were relatively low in recent years, it was nearly never this way during the bull market. L2 solutions were introduced to appease those who do not want to bear the burden of these often exorbitant fees. Optimism, which is based on Optimistic rollsups (which take L1 data and process it in batches using L2) to return the abbreviated data back to Ethereum), is one such solution.

According to the company’s numbers, Optimism already saves its users over $1 billion in gasoline fees and has more than $469 million in TVL (total worth locked) on its platform. This is the fourth largest rollup according to L2beat statistics.

Hiring and Advancements for Growth

Users were informed by Optimism via blog posts about where the money would go. To complete the company’s already completed projects, the company plans to recruit more employees. sizeableTeam to continue delivering new features. The Optimism currently has 18 open positions in various departments. They include software development jobs and finance opportunities.

This latest funding injection comes on the heels of the company’s Series A funding round, where the company raised a $25 million investment that was also led by A16z. The company praised Optimism, noting that its “close adherence to Ethereum development paradigms results in a very easy transition for developers, wallets, and users: no new programming languages, minimal code changes to existing contracts required.”
